What sets this online class apart is the exclusive opportunity for students to work directly with Dr. Craig Havens, a professional photographic and visual artist and guest lecturer Andreas Schmidt, a seasoned producer of artistic publications and editions. Class Structure

Online Course with Flexible Participation – engage when and how you want!

You can view and interact with the masterclass materials, classmates and instructor at any time you choose. All class materials and lectures remain available to students for the duration of the course and for 3 months following the final presentations. Video Lectures and Content Modules are released each week. In addition we offer live Instructor Meetings and Critiques via Zoom. Even if you are unable to join on all of these dates, the meetings will be recorded and available for viewing and comment at your convenience.

Dr. Craig Havens

A visual artist and educator working in the lens-based media of photography, video and printmaking. Havens’ artworks have been exhibited internationally at venues such as the Weserburg-Museum für moderne Kunst in Bremen/Germany, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Antwerp/Belgium, the Armory Biennial in Los Angeles/California, the Nanjing International Biennale in Nanjing/China among others. Artistic Research and Lectures have been conducted in collaboration with the following institutions: École de Recherche Graphique, ERG, Brussels, Art Center College of Design, Los Angeles and University of California, UCLA, Los Angeles.

Andreas Schmidt
A gallerist and artist whose work has been exhibited and published internationally. German fine art and photography book publisher Hatje Cantz published his first hard-back monograph entitled ‘Las Vegas’ to international critical acclaim. His second photo book, ‘The City’ was also published by Hatje Cantz. Schmidt was a founding member of ABC, Artists’ Books Cooperative, and during his involvement with the group self-published over 77 artist publications. Schmidt is a regular guest speaker and panelist at institutions like the Photographers’ Gallery, London and New School, New York, Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, and and has given illustrated talks at Christie’s New York Educational Department and museums such as Foto Museum Antwerp and Whitworth Art Gallery Manchester.
